This week we are going to "holler down the pipe chase and rattle those bars" with the host of the 30 plus years running "Prison Show" on KPFT 90.1 Houston, Mr. Ray Hill. Ray is responsible for getting ex-offenders their right to vote back in Texas (The Ray Hill Bill) and has a list of awards and accomplishments that is too long to list here. Ray, an ex-offender himself, views life from a unique perspective as he has dealt with incarceration issues for most of his adult life and in this week's episode of Journey of Hope With Rodney Mathers, we tap Ray's perspective on job searching, politics, and squeeze in a couple of good stories too. Be sure and check out Ray, and "The Prison Show" at http://theprisonshow.org and the radio station's site http://KPFT.org/

Welcome to another edition of Journey of Hope With Rodney Mathers. This week we speak with author James P. Krehbiel about his book, Troubled Childhood, Triumphant Life. James is a highly qualified therapist and he has some very important things to say ex-offenders. I highly recommend his book. Read about James at http://www.krehbielcounseling.com Go straight to his books at http://amzn.to/b68q1Y We also get some information on how each of us can start a "Ban the Box" campaign in our communities. We speak with someone who is working this at the grassroots level and she explains how it all works. You can get more information about this by checking out her blog at http://www.exfelongirl.com Remember, If God is for you, who can be against you?

Hi everyone! Welcome to this week's episode of The Journey of Hope With Rodney Mathers. This week we share a very candid and informative discussion with a former Branch Director of the Harris County Adult Probation Department, Mr. Larry D. Thomas. Larry discusses a range of post incarceration topics and reflects on his many years working in the criminal justice system. But that's not all with Larry! In addition to his distinguished career in Adult Probation, Larry has written ten collections of poetry and in 2008 was named the Texas Poet Laureate for the state of Texas by the Texas Legislature. He has won numerous awards in addition to his wonderful publications and he gives advice in this edition of the show on how ex-offenders can get started trying their hand at writing. Welcome! In this week's episode of Journey of Hope With Rodney Mathers, we give some tips on interviewing skills. Also this week, we present part two of our interview with Kathleen Murray. In this part of the interview, Kathy discussed with me how to address the issue of a felony during an interview. She also talks with me about how the EEOC's stance on using background checks as a screening tool will effect ex-offenders in their job searches. Be sure to check out Kathy's Blog and Twitter feed on regular basis. http://twitter.com/outandemployed http://outandemployed.wordpress.com/ Remember, if God is for you, who can be against you.
